The orchestra for Mozart's Requiem can be large or small depending on the nature of the performance and we hope on this occasion it will be large. There is a specific orchestration for this piece, however, which is detailed below. Scattered through the orchestra will be some professional players and section leaders and we hope it will be fun, enlightening and instructive to work next to professional performers. The rehearsals will be led by the conductor for the performance Alasdair Nicolson and professional players from the ensemble.

ORCHESTRATION  Clarinets , Bassoons, Trumpets, Trombones and Timpani Violins, Violas, Cellos and Double Basses. (We are hoping for a large sized string section) For the extra repertoire in the first part of the concert we'll also need Flutes, Oboes and Horns.

MUSIC We will provide orchestra parts and these will be available in advance should anyone want to practice or have a look beforehand. There is not a lot of time for rehearsals so instrumentalists will need to be decent sightreaders.

MASTERCLASSES If you are keen to have some individual time with any of the professional musicians then sign up for a masterclass which will be held outside the rehearsal times. See the MASTERCLASS page.
